The Silent Heart of Forgiveness

A Day of Silence, Yoga, Breath & Forgiveness

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ~ Rumi

Sunday 17 November, 10:30am - 4:00pm

Discover a deeply nurturing path to healing…

The Silent Heart of Forgiveness is an invitation to retreat from the world and take a journey into a profound place of contemplation and healing.

To ‘forgive’ is not merely an act of pardoning others but a deep and transformative process of freeing ourselves from the burdens we carry.

Forgiveness is not about forgetting or condoning, but rather about letting go of the weight that no longer serves you. It is an act of self-compassion, a recognition that holding on to past pain only holds us back from living fully and freely.

The hardest person to truly forgive is ourself

To Forgive is the greatest act of compassion…

Our day together will unfold gently, transitioning into sacred personal silence, whilst experiencing and embodying the yogic teachings physically, energetically and emotionally.

  • Welcome circle, intention setting and moving into silent contemplation.

  • Breathwork will be our guide, to release tension, open the heart, and remove stagnation and old beliefs from the body, mind and energy field.

  • Movement will help us embody the process of forgiveness, connecting movement with the flow of breath, creating openness in both body and mind.

  • Journaling & flash writing will provide a space to reflect on the stories we carry, allowing us to identify and release patterns of negative internal dialogue, blame and shame

  • Meditation will be a time to sit with ourselves in stillness, offering love and forgiveness to the parts of us that need healing and offering that out into the world.

  • Contemplation throughout the day will invite you to observe old wounds with fresh eyes, and gently let go of the self-judgment, regret, and guilt that may be holding you back, exploring the act of forgiveness to all those you believe have caused you to suffer.

  • Guided forgiveness practices across different traditions and according to yogic philosophy.

  • Time to embody and relax into a new sense of being.

You will leave with a new sense of perspective, release and lightness that comes from opening your heart to forgive.

FAQ’s

Why is it important to learn the art of forgiveness?

Holding onto resentment, anger, or hurt keeps emotional wounds open. Forgiveness allows individuals to release these negative emotions, fostering inner peace and healing. In yogic philosophy, forgiveness helps to clear emotional and energetic blockages, restoring balance and harmony within the self.

What if I feel that I don't have anyone I need to forgive?

Forgiveness isn’t only about others. Often, we harbour unrecognised guilt, shame, or self-blame for past decisions or imperfections. Practising forgiveness can reveal hidden self-judgments and offer an opportunity for self-compassion and healing. Yoga teaches that self-forgiveness is essential for cultivating peace within, allowing us to shed layers of negativity that hinder our personal growth. By practising forgiveness we are better equipped to deal with future conflicts with more ease and grace.

Will I need to share personal experiences during the retreat?

Sharing is not required. This is a semi-silent retreat, however, there will be an opportunity to share in the safety of our day for those who wish to. Silence, introspection, and personal reflection are highly valued during this retreat.

What will I need to bring?

A yoga mat, a journal, a pen, a water bottle, an additional blanket, or cushion for meditation, and any personal items you need to feel comfortable are also recommended. All other props will be provided.

Is this retreat suitable for beginner's?

All levels of experience are welcomed. Our movement and breath practices can be adapted to suit, what is more important is an openness to engage in the practices and the opportunity to turn inwards.

Will this retreat be conducted in silence?

This is a semi-silent retreat. Parts of the retreat day will be held in silence to encourage deeper reflection and contemplation. Your teacher will be guiding you throughout the day and during all practices. There will be opportunities to ask questions or share reflections during designated times.

What happens if I experience some strong emotions during the retreat?

It’s natural to feel a range of emotions during a retreat focused on forgiveness. Your teacher will hold space for this and be available to offer support. You will be encouraged to engage with your feelings in a compassionate way, allowing yourself space for release and healing.
