The Oxygen Advantage teaches the science behind breathing for health and performance.
It’s time to unlock your potential.

ATHLETIC

PERFORMANCE

How Can Breathwork Support Physical & Mental Athletic Performance & Recovery?

Our breath is one of the most powerful performance tools we possess, yet most of us fail to factor it into our training program.

WILL BREATHWORK GIVE YOU THE

EDGE?

The Oxygen Advantage method is a science-backed approach to functional breathing that improves oxygen delivery, builds resilience, and enhances both physical and mental performance  and recovery.
Whether you are an athlete seeking that precious advantage, a professional wanting sharper focus and faster recovery, or simply looking to feel and function at your best, the Oxygen Advantage teaches you how to optimise the way you breathe to transform the way you perform, recover and live.

First

Getting Functional

It is often thought that athletes would already be functional breathers to achieve their performance results. However, this is often not the case. Athletes often display key traits of dysfunctional breathing patterns including persistent mouth breathing and fast and shallow respiration. Dysfunctional breathing patterns will ultimately limit performance efficiency and potential.

The first pillar of the Oxygen Advantage is to address functional breathing patterns. Functional breathing training will:

  • improve blood circulation and oxygen delivery to the muscles and brain

  • reduce the onset of breathlessness

  • reduce energy costs associated with breathing

  • maximise vagal tone

  • regulate the nervous system

  • improve sleep, focus, calm and enhance recovery

  • improve functional movement to reduce the risk of injury

Training for

Performance

The second pillar of the Oxygen Advantage is simulation of altitude training or intermittent hypercapnic, hypoxic training. This form of breathwork training helps to:

  • improve aerobic and anaerobic capacity

  • stimulate anaerobic glycolysis without risk of injury

  • increase VO2 max and running economy

  • increase repeated sprint ability (team sports)

  • increase maximum tolerance to breathlessness

  • improve respiratory strength

  • maintain fitness during periods of injury or recovery

Oxygen Advantage in Action

Danny participated in the Oxygen Advantage program as part of his training and preparation for an epic 22-day bike ride to raise money for mental health. Danny rode more than 3100km, from Esperance, WA to his hometown of Omeo, Victoria.

The Oxygen Advantage exercises helped to improve aerobic capacity, to cope with the challenging altitude of Mount Hotham and to assist with recovery.

Breathwork coaching sessions are available ONLINE and IN-PERSON.
